On this day in 1775 at Tuns Tavern in Philadelphia our founding fathers created what was to become the United States Marine Corp. The young men and women of the Corps have served our country with distinction and honor for over 230 years. The freedom and liberty that we enjoy today is directly tied to the honor and service of the men and women of our armed forces. We can debate politically what direction the country should be headed, but there should be no debate that it is because of the sacrifice of these Americans that our country has been able to achieve the greatness it enjoys today. On this Veterans Day celebration and on the birthday of the Marine Corps I hope that we all stop for a moment and reflect on the freedoms that we enjoy and the great sacrifices made by these Americans so that we can be free.

Dad--Were you able to watch the dedication of the new Marines museum? President Bush announced that Corporal Jason Dunham will be awarded with the Medal of Honor posthumously. I think he's only the second person to receive the MOH for service in the GWOT.
