What? Tennis?!

ok i think it was marilyn who asked for a schedule of tennis games so here it goes: oct. 3-marina, oct 6-esperanza, oct 11-huntington beach, oct 12-@ los al, oct 18-edison, oct 20 @ los al, oct 25-@ los al, oct 27 @ los al, oct 31- fountain valley.

if only the school name is listed, that means we will be playing at that school however @ los al means simply that- we will be playing at los al. matches start at 3:00 but that doesnt mean i play right at 3 so...yeah. if you do come, bring a chair and a drink or something cause lately its been pretty hot. but you know that so...yeah. call me if you are going to come out...warn me, you know, so i have plenty of time to warn the other girls! jk love love--ari

Since It was hard for me to let all of the younger set have all the fun posting their clases, I thought I would post mine. :)

Period 6 Girls Varsity Golf Coach
(That's right no period 5, Since I am over 50 I am entitled to a nap period)
I have no Homework, but I get to pay back all of my teachers by giving out HW to others.
Isn't education wonderful.
PS If anyone would like to discuss the Calif. Propositions off the record I would be happy to hear others and share my opinions from inside the classroom.

After a couple weeks of adding and dropping to get the ideal schedule, i've finally settled. I'll include reading lists for those who are interested:

and yesterday I was invited by Jaffe to sit in on an experimental fiction graduate seminar which should be fun if i could work it into my schedule.

It'll be a good semester. Good reading. I've been lucky with professors.

a week in the life of a med student

So, David and Alex have shared with us the incredible work loads they have taken on .... I thought everyone might like to know what a future doctor or lawyer might be stuck doing.
That means after i post my schedule ... i would like to know yours Fern.
So, I have my Gross Anatomy final next monday ... only to start Head and Neck anatomy on Tuesday. This class lasts only three weeks until our final.
Anatomy is every morning and part of the afternoon followed by Physician and Society on mondays (Medical ethics and Current Issues), OP&P on tuesdays (Osteopathic Principles and Practices - this is where we learn manipulative medicine), sometimes either more P&S or more anatomy on wednesday afternoons, ECM on thursdays (essentials of clinical medicine - learning history and physical, all other procedural type stuff), and then various classes on Fridays, depending on where we are in the schedule.
After anatomy is completely finished on monday October 24, we come in tuesday to have anatomy replaced by a slew of new and exciting classes. From then on my mornings will be filled with a fabulously fun combo of Biochemistry, Developmental Histology (histology is what stuff looks like in a microscope), Medical Genetics and Physiology.
We will also soon start Service Learning, in which we go to clinics throughout the area to shadow doctors and start our clinical experiences.
It takes up just about every hour of the day, since we study 3-4 hours a night plus atleast 6-8 on weekends, but hey ... Its what i've always wanted to do.

Fire Storm

im sure everyone by now has seen the fires in the chatsworth area. the fires have gone west towards box canyon and into calabasas and ventura county.

my apartment has a 180 degree view of this tragedy.

people are evacuating from the area around roscoe and valley circle. for those of you not familiar with this area that is about 1 mile north of where ryan went to high school. about 2.5 miles from here.

last night the lower part of the sky was an earie orangish reddish color. with binoculars you can see the flames flickering into the sky. (yes i wish i had a camera to share pictures with you). the smell of the burning brush is all around the area

i watched the sunset just a few moments ago. tragically beautiful. orange red sun sinking behind the hills.....

nature has been speaking loudly of late.

yesterday was the first day of season games for tennis and i won my match 6-4!!! JV won against edison overall 11-7. you guys should come watch one of our games. ask for a school we play near you! we play in long beach, huntington beach, fountain valley and many more! call today! haha you just have to come on a day when its not god-awful hot. and david- my homework supplies me with at least 2 hours every night so there. as for my after-high school plans, i want to go to berkely or ucla or ucsb for college to major in art and then get a degree in interior design perhaps at new yorks Parsons school of Design. then i would like to get marriedto a nice jewish boy, do the interior designing gig for a few years, have some (less than 3 kids) and hopefully start interior designing again. hehe, you didnt have to read all that...

Hey all,

Sorry I haven't been posting as much as I probably could or should but school and cross country have just been taking up all my time =P. I really like my classes although some are very hard. Here is my Sched
1st Period - Hebrew 10
2nd Period - Art History
3rd Period - Jewish History
4th Period - Honors Chemistry (favorite class right now)
5th Period - English 10 CP
6th Period - Honors Algebra II / Trig
7th Period - PE (I take it because I don't wanna take Studio Art, and plus I don't do anything anyways)
8th Period - AP European History

Whew!!!! So I average about 1 1/2 to 2 hours of home work a night! And cross country isn't really helping the workload either, but I do it for soccer so its all good =). Oh my phone was found! Yay! Thanks to Alex's friend, Alex Bryant, my phone was located in the back seat of Alex's, my cousin's, car! So I again have my cell phone =) I don't know what else to say hrm... Dreams? I dunno teacher maybe, or join the army =-/ For some reason I am leaning towards the latter decision, I don't really know why, I just have an urge to do something that not everyone in their lives gets to say they have done.
