Ari, I hate to do this to you, but as a future attorney, I have been trained to present all evidence, even "bad" evidence (for example, it is unethical for an attorney to withhold from discovery evidence that is harmful to his client). The photo at left is a screen shot from the Hebrew National website. Also, the only photos I can find of Hebrew National dogs have mustard, and only mustard, on them.

man this family is weird
thank you fern
it is a fun website
go to the part of the website where they sell hebrew national gear.
the sell mezuzim in the shape of a hot dog with.......mustard on them.
after all: "we appeal to a higher source."
since hebrew national is a national brand, the statistics would indicate the universalism of mustard only hot dog usage.
i also read that catsup use on hot dogs is actually related to age. that a higher percentage of folks under 25 use catsup than their older and wiser fellow citizens.
i have a rebuttal though... i like ketchup. it tastes good.
i like it on fries.
i like it on hot dogs.
that's about it.
if ketchup wasn't preferred ever, it wouldn't be next to the mustard at the hot dog stand
A poet and you didn't know it!
alex,i love ketchup, a lot. this isnt about what one likes nor ones right to like whatever one chooses.
if anyone tells you that you cant put ketchup on a hot dog, let me know i will stand with you. i will hold a placard and march with you.
this is my sickness, when i do my mustard on hot dog thing, i actually think im being funny. i believe that ketchup on hot dogs is a poor choice. but i do not think these poor souls will be condemned to a lousy life in the here after.
if i have offended anyone over the years regarding my pit-bullesque attitude to ketchup on hot dogs; please forgive me.
ben,
52% in a poll like the hebrew national one is significant. they have no ax to grind. the number of people preferring mustard is 325% greater than those who prefer ketchup
im thinking that is pretty good.
it would have been interesting to see what peoples second choice would be. for ex: the relish people. do they regard mustard as number two or onions, etc.
i would guess that relish saurkraut and onion users would have mustard over ketchup in at least a 3:1 ratio...
i would, without perfect information to be sure, posit that if the question was asked differently (what do you put on your hot dogs) that more than 52% would give an answer that does not include ketchup.
Right on, Larry! That was well stated-I thought everyone understood this mustard vs ketchup thing was all in fun.
Ari--I searched the web for an hour last night trying to find a picture of a hebrew national do with ketchup on it. I couldn't find one.
I'm with Lauren. We are part of a weird, but amusing, even entertaining family.
When I was a youngster, many, many years ago I liked mustard and catsup on my hot dog. I have since grown up and discovered that the best hot dog has mustard, relish and onions on it.
I have no real problem with people's fondness for castup on hot dogs, after all we all watch Papa put catsup on perfectly good steaks, tri tip, etc. Now that's disgusting!
larry-never apologize for your mustard ideals. don't forget that you reformed me. mustard-only is the only way to go.
lauren
thankyou for your support.
im glad that youre still happy with your spiritual conversion and awakening.
larry
you can't change me! ketchup and mustard on hot dogs for LIFE! WOO!! YEAH!
ok bye.
yeah, ... fun ... blah blah blah ...
however, if i find out that anyone in the family puts mayonaise on a hot dog i will be forced to adjudicate
ben
i would agree that a small sample size would render the study useless.
however, there is no reason to assume that the sample size is statistically unmeaningfull. this is hebrew nationals business. they have no ax to grind on this issue. they have to much at stake to be wrong about such a thing. they only care that they sell their product to as many people as possible as efficiently as possible.
there knowledge of what condiments are put on the hot dog is important to them because they direct their marketing efforts more precisely.
i am going to assume that they have extensive data on what people put on their hot dogs. they have been doing this for some time.
At a McDonald's in Vancouver I saw people dipping their fries in mayo! Gross!
Thats not even the worst of it. Go farther into Canada and they dip GRAVY on Fries EWW!!!
And its all about Ketchup =D No mustard stuff for me
Its also entirely possible that there was ballot stuffing. Internet surveys allow the same person (coughcoughlarrycoughcough) to vote more than once. Even if the survey is set up to only allow one vote per IP address, with some types of internet access it is easy to get a new IP address. And of course, the same person could alway just vote multiple times at different computers.
